What is chi?

The Chinese use the word chi to describe the energy that circulates in the body.

How much does acupuncture cost and how many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments required is something that can be better estimated at your initial consultation, as a guide the longer the condition has existed the more treatments are usually required.

The fees for acupuncture are $70 for an initial or long consultation and $50 for standard consultations. Discounted rates of $50 for initial and $35 for standard consultations are provided for full time students, health care card holders and pensioners. Think of how much money you spend on your car and remind yourself of how much your health is worth!

Can I get rebates from private health insurers for acupuncture?

All major private health insurance companies provide rebates for acupuncture depending on the type of cover you have.

Can I continue to have other treatment if I decide to go ahead with acupuncture?

Yes, acupuncture is well suited to compliment other types of treatment such as medication from your GP, herbalist or homeopath and manipulative therapy such as physiotherapy, massage, podiatry, chiropratic or osteopathy.

Do I need a referral from my GP for acupuncture?

No, referrals are not necessary. However I do receive many referrals from GPs and other practitioners and I welcome the opportunity to work in conjunction with other health professionals who are involved in an individual's care.
